YL Intern – Children’s Programs

The Year Long (YL) Intern for Children’s Programs will provide critical support and assistance to the Directors of The Philadelphia Project’s preschool, afterschool (Fuel), and summer camp (ReFuel) programs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in children’s ministry and education.

Duties and Responsibilities

Preschool Assistant (40%)

  • Plan and teach 3 lessons per week
  • Assist teachers in the classroom as assigned
  • Provide coverage for breaks for teachers
  • Assist in planning & implementing events
  • Provide servant leadership and direction for any assistants, substitutes, interns, or volunteers
  • Meet regularly with the Director to set and meet SMART goals

Fuel & ReFuel (40%)

  • Facilitate a group of students each day
  • Invest in your group of students, aiming to build personal relationships with each of them in their families.
  • Lead electives and occasionally Bible discovery time
  • Communicate openly with students and parents regarding discipline
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment and ensure that the daily cleaning responsibilities are being executed with fidelity
  • Provide servant leadership and direction for any assistants, substitutes, interns, or volunteers
  • Build and maintain our volunteer basis
  • In collaboration with the Director, plan all aspects of summer camp (starting in January)
  • Meet regularly with the Director to set and meet SMART goals

General (20%)

  • Serve in a defined area of ministry with our partner church, TBD in collaboration with the YL Intern and the Pastor of our partner church
  • Attend all meetings, fundraisers and events associated with the Children’s Programs
  • Raise full financial support

Qualifications

  • Maintain a positive, teachable attitude in all things, remaining Christ centered in life
  • Excited by the opportunity to live out your Christian faith serving children and families
  • Experience working with children and teens, particularly in a relational and spiritual settings
  • Ability to multi-task, move at a quick pace, and work on a team
  • Auditory and visual ability to respond to critical incidents
  • College graduate or equivalent experience

Working Conditions

  • Be able to lift 25-30 lbs.
  • Be able to walk, see, hear, speak
