YL Intern – Worksites

The Year Long (YL) Intern for Worksites will provide critical support and assistance to The Philadelphia Project’s Home Services and Maintenance Manager. The YL Intern will help to develop safe, efficient, and productive worksites for teams that serve with TPP as well as assist the Manager with year round projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in combining a heart for ministry with practical skills in project management and construction. This position includes serving at TPP’s afterschool program 4x a week

Duties and Responsibilities

Worksites (55%)

  • Assist with ministry sites, evening programing, and hospitality when volunteer groups are in serving at TPP from September-May
  • Assist to the Manager during the Summer of Service
  • Organizing the necessary tools and supplies needed for each assigned worksite
  • Managing each worksite to optimize safety and productivity for the teams that serve
  • Provide spiritual guidance and servant leadership for any assistants, interns, or volunteers
  • Other worksite related duties as assigned
  • Meet regularly with the Director to set and meet SMART goals

Fuel (25%)

  • Facilitate a group of students 4x a week
  • Invest in your group of students, aiming to build personal relationships with each of them in their families.
  • Lead electives and occasionally Bible discovery time
  • Communicate openly with students and parents regarding discipline
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment and ensure that the daily cleaning responsibilities are being executed with fidelity
  • Provide servant leadership and direction for any assistants, substitutes, interns, or volunteers

General (20%)

  • Serve in a defined area of ministry with our partner church, TBD in collaboration with the YL Intern and the Pastor of our partner church
  • Attend all meetings, fundraisers and events associated with the Mission Program
  • Raise full financial support

Qualifications

  • Maintain a positive, teachable attitude in all things, remaining Christ centered in life
  • Excited by the opportunity to live out your Christian faith serving homeowners in Philadelphia
  • Experience working with children and teens, particularly in a relational and spiritual settings
  • Ability to multi-task, move at a quick pace, and work on a team
  • College graduate or equivalent experience
  • Construction and/or project management experience, preferred
  • Ability to lead a group of children and invest in their education and spiritual development

Working Conditions

  • Be able to lift 25-50 lbs.
  • Be able to walk, squat/kneel, bend, see, hear, speak
